  Jared’s Obituary
Jared S. Fogel, motivational speaker, founder of the Jared Foundation and spokesman for Subway Sandwiches, has died at age 31. His father told reporters yesterday from his Indiana home that Jared had died. No cause of death was listed.
Fogel won numerous humanitarian awards, and amassed a significant personal fortune from the sale of his best selling book, speaking engagements and exclusive promotional arrangement with international fast food restaurant Subway.
Fogel made his home in Indianapolis, and was declared dead less than 72-hours after being admitted to a local hospital complaining of severe abdominal cramping. Marion County Sheriff’s Department said foul play is not suspected in his death.
The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of his death, but results are not expected until next Wednesday. A private service will be held for family only (not open to the public) on the following Saturday. It is believed he suffered from complications resulting from abdominal adhesions, a progressive internal scarring disorder which eventually causes massive organ failure and is an issue that insiders have known he was struggling with for several years.
Although he has not actively participated in the filming of Subway commercials since his health became prohibitive in 2006, it is believed that enough commercials were filmed in advance to continue his television appearances in promotion until at least 2010, with all proceeds and royalties going to his foundation.
Fogel was married until October 2007 when his divorce from Elizabeth Christie was finalized.
Jared had no children, and is survived only by his parents.
