People Jared Inspired

I first saw Jared on tv in 2000. I thought he had a pretty good story but I didn’t believe it and I didn’t think he would keep off the weight. I tried every diet there was and nothing worked for me either and all I saw was another handsome face trying to tell me how to live my life.

I met Jared a couple years later when he gave an address at a conference I was attending. Since I was a department manager I got to meet him afterwards. When he talked it really meant something to me. His charm, his charisma, his passion and his wit. These should make him more famous than anything.

I was milling around the coffee pot and I looked over and he was standing right there. I lost my composure a little and he talked to me and we really connected. He told me my life could change and for once I saw somebody believing in me the way I wishing I could believe in me.

I promised him and myself that I would make a change.

That summer I went under the knife and within 11 months I went from 342 pounds down to 175 pounds, and today I’ve got the weight off, and kept it off, and I’m at 136 pounds this morning. I wear a size 11 and I’ve never felt better.

I borrowed a lot of money to get that done to me, and I don’t regret a penny of it. Jared changed my life and for him I’ll always be grateful. I kept my promise to you, Jared, thank you for giving me the strength.

I used to hate people like Jared, but then again, the old me used to hate people like the new me. I don’t hate myself today, and I’m not too proud to admit that I love Jared, and I love him for what he did for me.

I was never overweight, but I was unpopular for my own reasons and it’s nothing I need to revisit now or ever again. Still, I had my issues, and I never knew I could get past them, until one day I went to a Verizon store to get a new handset, and it changed my life.

Apparently there was a Subway Store that just opened up around the corner that morning, and Jared was in need of a new car charger for his phone, and he was in the store at the same time as me. It was weird because we both wanted somebody to come out and help us when I looked over and saw who it was.

I can’t remember exactly what I said, but it was something negative and cynical and he was so sharp on his game that he cut right through it. He saw me for who I was and knew me for my self-poison, and he said to me something so meaningful it changed my life forever. I won’t tell you what it was because I’m writing a book about it, but he had the power to upend my whole life in a single phrase.

Jared gave me a whole new outlook, and I now have a whole new life, and it’s all thanks to him, and today I have everything I’ve ever wanted… except for Jared being alive still. Peace be upon you Jared.

I was one of those miserable fat people you see at Wal-Mart. I’m not being cynical, I really was. In 2004 I went to a Promise Keepers meeting with a friend of mine from church who had met Jared at a fundraiser back east. He said he was different, and not in a bad or creepy way.

My friend said that just by hearing his presentation on health and fitness he found the strength to lose the fifteen pounds he’d packed on since softball season the year before. I said to myself "Fine, I’ll meet this Jared and find out for myself."

I spent the next few months trying everything I could to meet him. I said I was a reporter, I told his assistant I was next of kin, I hung out by his house, everything I could think of I did. Then I realized, if I could do all this, I could lose weight on my own.

That’s the power of his inspiration.

If Jared can lose weight and become rich and famous by eating fast food and walking, I could go from an unhealthy 196 down to my target weight of 175. I didn’t need anything fancy, just determination, and I already knew I had it thanks to Jared.

So instead of hiring a trainer, I hooked up with a friend of mine who lives in the apartment complex with me. We’d go out dancing and riding the snake, sometimes we’d work out for two or three days without eating.

Within 60 days I rocketed past my target weight down to 148 pounds. I’m more productive now, I sleep less and I’ve met a lot of really interesting people who share my passion for energy and staying thin. I’ve also learned to like house music, which is weird, but I couldn’t have done this but for the help of Jared.

Thanks Jared.
